Copy the video page, not the feed
A Facebook feed can show several videos inside one page. Copying the feed address does not identify the video you are watching. Open the individual video or its original post first, then use the Share menu or browser address bar to obtain the direct URL.
Facebook can provide several address shapes for the same video, including video pages, watch links and short sharing links. A supported public link may redirect to its canonical destination. You do not normally need to rewrite the URL yourself. Confirm that opening it shows the intended creator and video.
Mobile and desktop steps
- Open the video from its original public post.
- Find the sharing controls and select Copy link if available.
- On desktop, open the individual video page and copy the complete address.
- Paste the URL into the Facebook Video Downloader.
- Review the preview, author, description and formats before selecting a file.
If the Paste button cannot read the clipboard, use the device’s normal paste action inside the input. If you copied a message, remove surrounding text without altering the URL identifier. A link to a page’s video library is not the same as one video’s link.
Public access can be narrower than it looks
A post shared in a group may be visible to you because you are a member. A friend’s post may play because your account has permission. Neither case means that an anonymous public request should have access. The tool does not use your account, join a group or collect cookies.
Test the exact address without an authenticated Facebook session when deciding whether a failure is expected. Age, country, account and rights restrictions may still apply. If the creator provides a direct authorized download, that can be the more reliable option.
Understand the file choices
A video can have multiple encodings. Resolution describes pixel dimensions, not a guarantee of sharpness or the original camera file. Bitrate and compression also affect appearance. Choose a file that suits the intended use and available storage rather than assuming the largest option is always necessary.
Read sound labels carefully. Separate video and audio streams are not automatically the same as a complete playable file. If the server offers a combined option, preparation takes an additional processing step. Basic direct single-file formats remain usable without that step.
After saving
Check the browser download manager for completion and location. A file may open in a viewer rather than immediately appear in a photo library. Keep the original URL and any reuse permission with the saved copy so attribution and context are not lost.
