Facebook tools for public videos, Reels and images
Facebook presents media in several places: individual posts, video pages, Reels, Stories, albums and profile-picture viewers. The correct tool depends on what your link identifies and which public files Facebook actually exposes. This hub groups the workflows so you can start with an appropriate source link and understand its limits.
SaveFlow uses public media responses and does not log in to Facebook. A result can show a preview, creator information, descriptive text and available formats. It cannot use your friends list, group membership or account session to open content that is unavailable anonymously.
Pick a workflow
Use the Facebook Video Downloader for a direct public video page, including a supported finished replay. It explains watch URLs, short share links and separate audio/video formats. Currently live streams are not treated as complete finished files.
Use the Facebook Reel Downloader for one Reel. The Reel viewer may move between videos, so copying the individual item’s sharing link matters. Verify the creator and preview, particularly for remixes or reshared videos.
The Facebook Story Downloader explains temporary Story links. Expiry and sign-in requirements are important limitations. A Story visible to your account may still be unavailable to a public server request. Expired content is not recovered from an archive here.
The Photo Downloader concerns an individual public photograph. The Post Downloader starts with a post permalink that can contain several attachments. Neither is a guarantee that a private album or every item in a collection can be retrieved.
The Profile Picture Downloader explains the difference between a visible avatar and an accessible photo page. Some public profile images are not supported by the media engine. A hidden high-resolution original or identity information is never promised.
Public visibility has boundaries
Facebook’s Public audience setting does not remove every technical or regional restriction. A platform can still require login, limit anonymous requests or stop exposing a downloadable source. A private-group video wrapped in a shared post is not made public by the wrapper.
Treat any demand to export cookies or provide a Facebook password as outside SaveFlow’s workflow. The form accepts a normal HTTP or HTTPS media URL. There is no account-login step, no private-session import and no protection-bypass feature.
Get a specific media link
- Open the actual video, Reel, photo or post on Facebook.
- Use its sharing menu to copy the link. A post’s timestamp may also lead to its individual permalink on some layouts.
- In a browser, check that the address identifies the item rather than a general feed or Page timeline.
- Paste the copied URL into the relevant SaveFlow tool.
- Review the returned metadata, then choose an available file format.
An fb.watch link may redirect to a public video. Keep the copied link intact at first. If a redirecting address fails, open the original in a browser and copy the final direct page address. Do not paste surrounding message text, private messaging links or a screenshot into the URL field.
For a mixed post, inspect each attachment before downloading. An external article preview is different from a Facebook-hosted video. If a post-container link does not return the intended media, open the individual attachment and copy its own public address when available.
On mobile, downloads usually appear in the browser’s download list or the device’s Files app. Saving to a photo library can require a separate import action. Keep enough storage for the selected format and wait for the transfer to finish before closing the tab.
Quality, errors and permitted reuse
Returned formats depend on Facebook’s source encodings. A video-only option has no soundtrack; a combined option may need additional preparation. Image downloads do not restore camera originals, editing layers or detail removed during compression. An estimated size is a guide, not a promise of exact final bytes.
Common failures include a deleted item, changed audience, login requirements, regional restrictions, unsupported photo responses and temporary platform throttling. Check the original URL without signing in. If it is not public, request permission or a direct authorized copy from the owner. If it is public but processing fails, wait before trying again.
Signed download URLs expire, and files generated on the server are temporary. Save your authorized local copy and retain its source reference. The service is not a permanent archive or public mirror of Facebook accounts.
Creators retain rights in public material. Music, artwork, identifiable people and contributions from others can carry separate permissions. Do not repost someone’s work as your own or use it in advertising without the necessary rights. SaveFlow is independent of Facebook and Meta.
