Public Imgur media: start with the source
Imgur links can identify a single image, a gallery or an animation. An animation that looks like a GIF may be served as a video to reduce size. Use the public item or gallery sharing address and inspect the actual media type returned.
A gallery can contain several items with different formats. The site bounds the number of items processed in one request, and the engine may support some attachments while omitting others. Do not interpret the first cover image as proof that the entire gallery was downloaded.
For a single image, the original public page is preferable to a temporary resized thumbnail URL. The downloader cannot restore detail lost in compression or turn a static image into an animation. A file’s extension describes the actual returned format, not simply the label used in a post.
Imgur frequently contains reposted artwork and screenshots. The uploader may not own every work shown. Before reusing a file, identify its creator, check permissions and preserve context that avoids misrepresenting the source.

Open the intended public Imgur item, copy its share link and paste it here. Check whether the result is an image, video or collection. Download the specific returned item you need.
On phones and tablets, the browser may save the file into Downloads or Files before it appears in a photo library. Use the normal device Paste command if clipboard permission is unavailable. Keep the page open while a file is being prepared; a result preview is not itself a completed download.
Availability and responsible use
Removed, restricted or unsupported gallery items may return no file. The tool does not recover deleted uploads or guarantee a complete album export.
Signed result links expire. Request the original URL again for a fresh result while the media remains public. Generated server files are temporary rather than a permanent archive.
