Public Tumblr media: start with the source
Tumblr posts can include uploaded video, pictures, animations and embeds from other websites. Start with the individual post permalink on the public blog. A blog homepage contains several posts and is not a request to download an entire archive.
A reblog can preserve a chain of contributors and commentary. The media’s original creator may be different from the account whose link you copied. Follow attribution and source links when deciding whether you may save or reuse a file.
An externally embedded video follows the source platform’s access rules. A Tumblr preview does not make a protected destination public. Native video and supported media are processed only when the public response contains extractable file information.
Animated artwork can be delivered in different formats, and a displayed animation is not a guarantee of a GIF file. Check the actual extension and media type returned. A download does not include tags, notes, replies or a full blog theme.
Copy the link and review the result
Open the post permalink, copy its address and paste it here. Review the returned preview and description. When several attachments are returned, select each intended file separately and preserve any required credit.
On phones and tablets, the browser may save the file into Downloads or Files before it appears in a photo library. Use the normal device Paste command if clipboard permission is unavailable. Keep the page open while a file is being prepared; a result preview is not itself a completed download.
Availability and responsible use
Password-protected blogs, restricted content, removed posts and login-only responses are not bypassed. Some images or embed types may not be supported by the current video engine.
Signed result links expire. Request the original URL again for a fresh result while the media remains public. Generated server files are temporary rather than a permanent archive.
